TWI’s Senior Project Leader, Sofia Sampethai took part in the Graphosite Open Day on 16 April.
Sofia gave an overview of the capabilities of the Advanced Composites and Adhesives (ACA) section and presented three collaborative projects where ACA is currently involved.
More precisely, Sofia presented the progress in the following three projects:
- TOD[1] (Thermoplastics on Doors) --> Demonstration of rapid manufacturability and validation of a full-scale thermoplastic composite door including its surrounding
- D-JOINTS[2] (Design of innovative joints with electromagnetic compatibility) --> Development of joints with enhanced electromagnetic compatibility and sizing tool software for early design phase of joints
- PROTECT[3] (Multi-material crash-box development) --> Manufacturing of a modular multi-material crash-box for tailored impact energy adsorption during low speed collision
